[SMM MHP Daily Review] July 1: MHP prices in Indonesia rise slightly

As of now, the MHP coefficient (relative to the SMM battery-grade nickel sulphate index) ranges from 83.5% to 84%, and the FOB price of Indonesian MHP is $12,471/mt Ni.

As of now, the MHP coefficient (relative to the SMM battery-grade nickel sulphate index) stands at 83.5%-84%, with Indonesian MHP FOB prices at $12,471/mt Ni.

Supply side, June's overall MHP production rebounded due to resumed operations at Indonesian MHP projects. Additionally, affected by the delayed Congo (DRC) cobalt export ban, some traders have suspended quotations. Demand side, several nickel salt smelters inquired about orders this week, though most buyers' price acceptance for MHP remained limited. Overall procurement sentiment warmed slightly but stayed at a low level. Overall, policy changes in the DRC's cobalt sector may drive upward adjustments in cobalt coefficients within MHP, while nickel coefficients face upward pressure but are expected to stabilize in the short term.

Nickel Prices Drop: SMM 10-12% High-Grade NPI Down 17.2 Yuan, Indonesia NPI FOB Index Falls 2.06 $/mtu

[SMM Nickel Flash] The SMM average price of 10-12% high-grade NPI fell 17.2 yuan/mtu WoW to 1,035.8 yuan/mtu (ex-factory, tax included), while the Indonesia NPI FOB index average price dropped 2.06 $/mtu WoW to 131.2 $/mtu. At the beginning of the week, futures hit limit-down, and nickel prices fell sharply WoW, driving the emergence of arbitrage supplies sold at low prices, leading to a significant decline in high-grade NPI prices.
